The newest teaser trailer for the upcoming “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” was revealed at Star Wars Celebration, which was held April 13th – 16th, 2017.

As expected, it appears to suggest that “The Last Jedi” will pick up right where “The Force Awakens” left off, with Rey –Daisy Ridley’s lead character — getting Jedi training from none other than Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on a remote, craggy island.

Let the countdown to Dec. 15th begin. That’s when “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” lands in theaters.

The poster for the upcoming film “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” has been revealed today (Friday – April 14th, 2017) at the “Star Wars” Celebration in Orlando.

The poster shows Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, holding up a blue lightsaber, channeling the original poster for “Star Wars: A New Hope,” in which Luke Skywalker strikes a similar pose. The poster also features the right and left sides of Mark Hamill and Adam Driver’s faces, respectively, superimposed to create one face, albeit slightly off-center. The entire poster is covered with a red wash, a color generally used to represent the dark side in the “Star Wars” universe.

STAR WARS: Forces of Destiny has been announced by Disney and Lucasfilm, starring Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Felicity Jones’ Jyn.

The Summary:

“Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” is an original series of animated shorts at around 2 to 3 minutes each, which explore new adventures for some of the franchises’ biggest female leads. Characters include Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia and Ahsoka Tano.

Reprising their roles & voicing their animated characters are actresses Daisy Ridley (Rey), Felicity Jones (Jyn), Tiya Sircar (Sabine), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata as narrator) for the new series that launches this July on Disney’s YouTube.

This will be followed by a two-part TV special with eight new stories on Disney Channel in the Autumn.

Quotes:

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said: “Star Wars Forces of Destiny is for anyone who has been inspired by Leia’s heroism, Rey’s courage, or Ahsoka’s tenacity.

“We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are.

“It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars.”

It has also been confirmed that the series will stay true to the “Star Wars” canon, as the stories shape the destinies of the various characters. Additionally, each animated story will be supported by a line of toys from Hasbro, including new “Adventure Figures” – a fusion between traditional dolls and action figures, creating a whole new way to play Star Wars.

Fans attending Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this weekend will get to see a sneak peek of “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” during the “Heroines of Star Wars” panel on Friday, April 14. Check out the video above.

Daisy Ridley’s upcoming film, “Ophelia” is a bold new take on Shakespeare’s most famous play Hamlet, directed by Claire McCarthy, which also stars Naomi Watts and Clive Owen.

Film production for “Ophelia” begins in Prague in May. It tells the story of Hamlet from the point of view of his ill-fated potential wife. “It’s faithful to the original Hamlet in many ways but we’re retelling it from her point of view,” McCarthy says from the Czech Republic. “It’s a mythic retelling – a drama with a lot of action and a lot of edge-of-your-seat elements to it.”

The breakout star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ridley plays Ophelia, with George MacKay (Captain Fantastic) as Hamlet, and Watts and Owen as his parents, Gertrude and Claudius. McCarthy believes Ridley will show how talented she is in a world of swords rather than lightsabres.

“She’s the real deal,” she says. “She’s just very present and open and collaborative. I think she’s a star.”
