The first-look footage from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” was shown during the 2017 CinemaCon event for movie theater owners and the lucky crowd got a brief glimpse of the highly anticipated movie.

  • The short clip was part of a sizzle reel that Disney played during its portion of the convention.
  • It had footage showing Daisy Ridley‘s character Rey with her lightsaber ignited and she moved some rocks while using it.

No word yet on when the general public will get to see footage from the movie, but we sure can’t wait!

Prince’s William and Harry battled with lightsabers and hugged a Wookie on the set of the next “Star Wars” movie on Tuesday. The royal brothers were given a tour of the Pinewood Studios set in England by British actress Daisy Ridley, who plays heroine Rey in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

During the visit they met Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, and other cast and characters including Chewbacca and BB-8.

Kensington Palace said Tuesday’s visit was to salute the British creative talent involved in the “Star Wars” films, which have used British studios, actors, craftspeople and technicians since the 1970s.

Last night, a short clip was released to announce production has begun on the hotly anticipated Star Wars Episode VIII, showing both Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley as they come face-to-face on an island (a scene that was seen at the end of Episode VII!)

The scene is interrupted by a man in sun glasses sitting behind a camera who says, ‘Cut!’ The man is Rian Johnson, who is the director of the next Star Wars film says, ‘Beautiful’ and then an image of the number VIII is seen in bright yellow type over a starry scape. Then again the crew is shown, there are over a dozen. The director announced: ‘Ladies and gentleman welcome to Episode VIII.’ The crowd roars.

Filming for Episode VIII started on Monday at Pinewood Studios in London, according to StarWars.com You can watch the clip below, and we added two screencap stills of Daisy, here.
