We Got This Covered – Games industry giant Activision Blizzard is eagerly exploring the prospect of bringing “Overwatch” it’s science fiction video game and major property to the big screen.

Sources close to WGTC – say that fiercely competitive shooter Overwatch is likely next-in-line to get a cinematic adventure, with Daisy Ridley already being eyed to play Lena Oxton, or, as most know her, Tracer.

In what’s assuredly no coincidence, both Ridley and Tracer hail from London, England and with the latter noted as having a thick British accent in the game, it’s hardly surprising that the filmmakers would seek out an individual with that same recognizable twang associated with residents of the country’s capital. It’s worth noting, too, that the pair are almost identical in age and even look somewhat similar facially.

A perfect fit? We certainly think so, though it remains to be seen if the casting choice ever comes to pass. As of writing, it’s unknown whether Ridley has even been approached to audition for the role or, for that matter, if she’d be interested. We’re also unable to confirm which studio this project is housed at. Sony’s a potential candidate, but with Universal already having ties to Activision Blizzard, it too is a possibility.

What we have learned, however, is that much like Warcraft, Overwatch would be a hybrid of live-action and CGI performances, with characters such as Winston, Bastion, and other non-human combatants dictating the latter’s necessity.

Daisy Ridley is in talks to appear in a new psychological thriller titled “The Ice Beneath Her“. The project, which was of much interest to several Hollywood producers, has been reportedly greenlit with leading entertainment company STX acquiring international rights and bankrolling it.

The filmmaking trio of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella (producer), collectively known as Radio Silence, will be directing and jointly producing it with Andrew Lazar (American Sniper). Radio Silence has become a hot property since the success of their runaway hit “Ready Or Not“. The $6 million-budgeted dark comedy grossed $60 million worldwide.

The story of “The Ice Beneath Her” revolves around a detective and psychological profiler teaming up to solve the gruesome murder of a young woman. Screenwriter Caitlin Parrish (Supergirl, The Red Line) has penned the adaptation of Camilla Grebe’s bestselling 2015 novel of the same name which is said to be along the lines of “Gone Girl” and “The Girl On The Train“.

Daisy Ridley‘s upcoming film Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, the follow-up to 2018’s successful live-action/CGI hybrid was due to launch in the UK and other European territories on March 27th, rolling out internationally the following week and in the US on April 3rd, in good time for the Easter period. The international release date has now been revised to August 7th.

The film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Rose Byrne as well as the voice of Daisy Ridley, Peter Rabbit was lined up to be another sizeable hit, following on from the decent haul of the first movie in 2018, but the film has been put back to August 7th over concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

The postponement comes amid major theatrical market disruptions worldwide, due to the coronavirus. This week, Italy announced that all its cinemas were to be closed, with countries including France and Slovakia taking similar measures. Cinemas across China have been closed for several weeks.

Lionsgate has recently announced that the long-awaited sci-fi thriller, Chaos Walking, starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland will be released on January 22nd, 2021. So don’t forget to mark your calendars.

The movie wrapped shooting back in 2017 and was originally going to be released on March 1, 2019, then after Lionsgate executives took a look at the film, they deemed it “unreleasable”.

Big Budgeted Film…

The movie already had a $100 million budget, but the studio ended up putting millions more into the production to do three weeks’ worth of reshoots to try and make the movie work. After going through with that, it seems the film is now releasable.

Chaos Walking Synopsis…

The story takes place in the future, “on a distant planet called the New World which has been colonized by humans. Something called ‘the germ’ has seemingly wiped out all of the women on the planet, and an infection called the Noise has totally eliminated privacy: the men and boys can hear what everyone else is thinking at all times. A young man named Todd Hewitt (Holland) stumbles across the first girl he’s ever seen (Ridley) and eventually realizes that he may be the only one able to stop the planet’s destruction.”

An Adaptation Of A Book…

The movie is adapted from author Patrick Ness’s young adult trilogy and the film was directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith).

The Movie Stars Who Else?…

Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Mayor Prentiss, Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Davy Prentiss Jr., Demian Bichir (Alien: Covenant) as Ben, Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter as Cillian, and David Oyelowo (Selma, Interstellar) as Aaron.

Daisy Ridley recently teased that her Star Wars character Rey has a confrontation with returning empire baddie Emperor Palpatine in the upcoming trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker, saying it was among her favorites to shoot.

In an interview with USA Today, the actress admitted that she was hesitant at first about how the Senator-turned-Sith Lord’s comeback would weave into the franchise’s newest saga when director JJ Abrams first told her about it.

But once she read the script, her worries disappeared.

“I guess I had all the questions that a lot of other people have,” she told the publication. “And then I was like, ‘OK, this is f***ing awesome.'”

Stars Wars actor John Boyega (Finn) had this similar reaction to the “dope” scene, making sure to come in on his day off just to watch Ridley shoot it.

“I was just like, ‘I can’t wait to see that onscreen.’ He’s definitely a formidable challenge for Rey and everything that’s going down with her,” he said. “He’s scary. But it’s so, so cool.”

Daisy Ridley has confirmed that the Rey and Kylo Ren fan shipped romance will be addressed in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker“.

Daisy was asked recently about the ambiguous relationship between her character Rey, the heroic rebel and Adam Driver‘s character, the villainous First Order leader, Kylo Ren. She had the following to say about the fan theories, giving a sort of confirmation. Considering the romantic fan art and fiction that’s out there.

“It does not bother me, people writing theories,” Ridley said. “It’s really fun hearing them. Plus, because I know what’s sort of going to happen, I think it’ll be really interesting to see people’s reaction to [the final film]. Obviously, there’s this whole Reylo thing and some people are very passionate about it, some aren’t.”

Ridley hinted that the seemingly romantic connection isn’t left unaddressed by director J.J. Abrams in The Rise of Skywalker.

“J.J. does deal with [it],” she added. “It’s a very complex issue. People talk about toxic relationships and whatever it is. It’s no joke and I think it’s dealt with really well because it’s not skimmed over.”

We’ll find out when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released Dec. 20th, 2019.
